Woodinville: Beyond Wine Country – A Spirited Adventure
Discovering Woodinville’s Hidden Gems
When you think of Woodinville, Washington, your mind might immediately jump to its world-renowned wineries. However, guests of the Hollywood Manor are in for a treat as they discover that this charming town offers so much more than just wine. One such hidden gem is JP Trodden Distilling, a family-owned distillery that’s been crafting exceptional spirits for nearly 15 years.
JP Trodden: A Family Legacy in Spirits
Recently, Tenhulzen Residential had the pleasure of experiencing JP Trodden’s craft firsthand, thanks to an auction item purchased at the Woodinville High School PTSA auction. This experience not only showcased the distillery’s commitment to quality but also highlighted the importance of supporting local, family-owned businesses.
JP Trodden Distilling, now approaching its 15th year, has become a cornerstone of Woodinville’s craft spirits scene. Founded by Mark & Jennifer Nesheim in honor of his grandfather JP Trodden. This family-owned
distillery embodies the spirit of artisanal craftsmanship and is now run by his son Dylan Nesheim. Their journey from a small operation to their current facility, which is two times larger than their original location, mirrors our own growth and commitment to quality.
Despite this growth, they’ve maintained their dedication to craftsmanship, using the largest pot-belly still in Washington State to ensure consistent quality in every batch.
A Tasting Experience to Remember
Our tasting journey at JP Trodden was nothing short of extraordinary. We were treated to a beautiful charcuterie box from Urban Whey in Mill Creek, perfectly complementing the bourbon tasting. The experience included their Black Label (aged 3 years), Single Cask (aged 4+ years), Blue Label (aged 6+ years), and Green Label (aged 4 years). Each bourbon showcased the distillery’s meticulous aging process and attention to detail.
But the surprises didn’t end there. We also had the pleasure of tasting their amazing maple syrup and got a sneak peek of their innovative Rye whiskey. This unique spirit is crafted using barrels that have previously held bourbon and maple syrup, resulting in a rich and complex flavor profile that left us in awe.
Expanding Horizons: JP Trodden’s New Tasting Room
Exciting news for Hollywood Manor guests and Woodinville visitors alike: JP Trodden will soon be opening a new tasting room in the upcoming Harvest property, just two blocks from the Hollywood Manor. This expansion will make it even easier for visitors to experience JP Trodden’s exceptional spirits and learn about the art of bourbon-making.
The new tasting room will offer an enhanced experience for visitors without compromising on the intimate, craft-focused atmosphere that JP Trodden is known for.
For guests staying at the Hollywood Manor, a visit to JP Trodden offers a unique opportunity to explore the craft spirits scene and support a local, family-owned business. It’s experiences like these that make a stay in Woodinville truly memorable, combining the comfort of your home away from home at Hollywood Manor with the rich tapestry of local artisans and their creations.
Whether you’re a bourbon enthusiast or simply curious about craft spirits, JP Trodden’s tasting room – both the current location and the upcoming one at The Harvest – should be on your must-visit list when staying in Woodinville. It’s a perfect example of how this charming town continues to surprise and delight visitors with experiences that go far beyond its reputation as wine country.
